In an unbelievable demonstration of academic commitment and success, the USC Men’s Crew placed 12 athletes on the PAC-10 All-Academic Teams. Placing six on the First Team, USC made a strong impression alongside academic power Stanford who placed eight athletes.
But the strength of the academic culture on the Men’s Crew didn’t stop there, with five more athletes on the Second Team and one Honorable Mention.

Junior Ryan Hasvold was recently selected as a member of the PAC-10 Men’s All-Conference Team. A recognition of Ryan’s hard work and difference making ability on the water.
Two days before the San Diego Crew Classic, Ryan broke his ankle. That injury left the young USC Varsity Crew lean on experience as they raced through the heart of the season, including the Hillen Cup duel against UCLA. But his late season return made his contribution all the more apparent.

Sophomore Kellen Proctor has been selected by the American Collegiate Rowing Association as a 2009 All American. A great achievement for a young man who only began rowing a year and a half ago.
Coach Danny Johnson said proudly, “Kellen’s achievements this year have been nothing short of awesome. He lead the team with his erg scores and set a new standard for training on the Crew, and this award is a testament to his hard work and solid contribution all year.”
In addition to his national recognition for performance, Kellen was awarded the ‘Hammer’ Award at this years Banquet, signifying Kellen’s leadership and commitment to consistent, high quality training and racing. Read more »
