Janet
Burkle and her son John Burkle, a former member
of the varsity squad, added to the list of their family’s gifts
to USC recently when they donated a brand new Kaschper racing pair-shell
to the Trojan Navy. The pair will be used for specialist training by the
top members of the squad. “It is a great boat with all the state-of-the-art
equipment and I know they need two-man boats,” wrote Janet in an
email to alumni board chairman Jack Schumacher ‘54.
Brook Heath ‘80 recently donated an Empacher pair shell
to the Trojan Navy. Brook purchased the shell from a national team after
a recent world championships. “It has really only been rowed in
for about a month,” Brook told men’s coach Gene Kininmonth.
Brook runs an accounting practice in Piedmont, CA and is looking forward
to watching our Trojans beat Stanford in Redwood Shores next Spring. Email
